North Line Sounder trains won’t run for Sunday Seahawks game

South Line Sounder and Link light rail will operate trains to accommodate game day crowds

Continuing slope instability and clean-up of mudslide debris along Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Everett-Seattle rail corridor has extended the moratorium on Sounder North Line service through the weekend.

As a result, North Line Sounder service that was scheduled to operate to the Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams game on Sunday has been canceled.

Burlington Northern will evaluate slope conditions through the weekend to determine whether passenger rail service can resume on Monday.

Sounder service from Lakewood to Seattle is not affected and will operate on New Year's Eve and to the Seahawks game on Sunday.

In observance of the New Year's Day holiday, Sounder trains will not operate on Tuesday.

Inbound Sounder game trains from the south will depart Lakewood at 9:50 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. The 9:50 a.m. train will operate to South Tacoma, Tacoma and Puyallup stations only before proceeding to King Street Station. The 10:30 a.m. Lakewood train will stop at all south stations.  A third south line train will depart Sumner Station at 10:37 a.m. and stop in Auburn, Kent and Tukwila before arriving in Seattle.

Link light rail trains will also run two-car trains to serve event crowds. Link light rail passengers are dropped off at Stadium Station just a half block from Century Link field. Link light rail serves 13 stations in downtown Seattle, SODO, Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Tukwila and SeaTac.

Regular fares will apply for all Sound Transit services. ORCA and all valid transit passes will be accepted.  Expect long lines at platform ticket vending machines so purchase in advance or arrive early to purchase a ticket.  Getting an ORCA card is a great way to skip lines at ticket vending machines. Cards only cost $5 for adults, plus whatever amount a rider chooses to load in the card's E-Purse or the cost of a pass that is good for unlimited transit trips.
