Sound Transit holds public hearing on surplus declaration for University District air space rights

Proposed action supports potential transit-oriented/joint development above future Link station

Sound Transit will hold a public hearing from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 on the agency's intent to sell surplus air space rights above its future U District Link Light Rail Station to the University of Washington. Transactions are contingent on ongoing discussions and future approvals by the Sound Transit Board and University of Washington Board of Regents.

The hearing and this news release are pursuant to RCW 39.33.020. The hearing, which will provide community members with an opportunity to comment, will focus on portions of King County Tax Parcels 114200-0185 and 114200-0225, consisting of approximately 37,080 square feet of surplus air space rights. The parcels are located at 4300 and 4328 Brooklyn Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98105. The declaration of surplus is a first-step enabling action for the potential transit-oriented/joint development.
