Sound Transit to host open house on Sounder Mukilteo Station access improvements

Public invited to provide input on possible future access improvements including parking, pedestrian, bicycle and bus facilities

Sound Transit will conduct an open house tomorrow to review potential options for improving transit rider access to the Mukilteo Sounder Station. The event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rosehill Community Center at 304 Lincoln Avenue.

Last year, the agency began a Sounder Station Access Study as part of the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure passed by voters in 2008. The purpose of the study is to identify potential improvements to the ways commuters access Sound Transit's commuter rail stations.

Potential station improvements that could be funded include more parking, enhanced connections for pedestrians and bicycle users, and new bus facilities.

The open house will provide the public an opportunity to discuss and provide comment on potential access solutions.

The Sound Transit 2 ballot measure provided funding to improve access at eight Sounder stations: Kent, Auburn, Sumner, Puyallup, Tacoma Dome, South Tacoma, Lakewood and Mukilteo.

For the convenience of Mukilteo residents, the event is being held in conjunction with Washington State Ferries and the Federal Transit Administration's public hearing on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Mukilteo Multimodal project.
