Demolition, late 2012 - early 2013

• Four townhouse buildings formerly located on NE 66^th St were relocated to a new site in the Roosevelt neighborhood.
• Building demolition began in November 2012 and includes removing asphalt, concrete and debris as well as grading on Sound Transit properties.
• Buildings to be demolished include the former QFC grocery store on Roosevelt Way NE at NE 67th Street, two remaining buildings on 12th Avenue NE (at Northeast 65th Street and Northeast 66th Street) and the old Standard Radio building on Northeast 65th Street.
• Work will be done during daytime hours, as defined by the City of Seattle. For public projects, daytime hours are 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
• Salvage and recycling are a very important part of Sound Transit's sustainability and it is our goal to salvage, reuse, and recycle a minimum of 75 percent of the materials.

Early utility relocation, early - mid 2013

Sound Transit, Seattle City Light and communications companies will relocate power lines, phone lines and internet lines out of the way of light rail construction.

Excavation and tunneling , late 2013 - late 2017

• NE 66^th and NE 67^th on the west of 12^th Ave NE will be closed to through traffic. Local access will be maintained.
• A solid construction wall will be built during this phase to surround the construction site to reduce dust and noise.
• Jet grouting in NE 65^th St. will last about three months and is planned for late 2013. Expect lane closures. Two-way vehicle traffic will be maintained.
• Water line relocation will last about four months and is expected for late 2013 - early 2014.
• Excavation of station box will take approximately one year. Nighttime noise variance applies during this work.
• Tunneling will last a little more than two years. Tunneling will begin from Roosevelt Station south to U District Station site and continue to University of Washington Station. Nighttime noise variance applies during this work.

Station construction, mid 2017 - late 2019

• Once the excavation and tunneling contractor is completed the station contractor is scheduled to start in late 2017 and build the station (floors, stairs, mezzanines, elevators, the above ground entrance to the station, etc.)
• Street closures on NE 66^th and NE 67^th on the west of 12^th Ave NE will still be in effect. Local access will be maintained.
• Solid construction wall still present.
• Daytime work only.

Temporary construction art

During the excavation, tunneling and station construction phase there will be a temporary art on the construction wall.

Station art

Selection panels made up of artist and design professionals as well as community representatives reviewed the artist submittals for permanent art at Roosevelt station, then conducted interviews and selected the artists.

R&R Studios, the team of Roberto Behar and Rosario Marquardt, will focus on the street level experience at the station. The Living Room, their 42-foot tall streetscape home turned inside-out, has become an icon in Miami where they live.

Luca Buvoli will create artwork for the Roosevelt Station interior. Buvoli combines his training in science with his explorations in sculpture. He recently installed a large suspended sculpture at Houston's Hobby Airport.
