Ash Way Transit Access/164thDescriptionThe Ash Way Direct Access project increases speed and reliability for buses with transit-only direct access ramps at 164th Street and I-5 in Snohomish County. It connects the north end of the Ash Way Park-and-Ride lot to the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-5 to and from the south using the median space between the southbound and northbound freeway. These ramps are used for Community Transit and ST Express buses using I-5 to serve points south, including Lynnwood and Seattle. The improvements increase transit system speed and reliability and provide better transit access in the vicinity of I-5 and 164th Street Southwest. When coupled with the Lynnwood HOV Access ramps, a commuter saves up to 12 minutes per day on a round-trip commute between Everett and Seattle.
