I-90 Two Way Transit and HOV Operations - Stage 1DescriptionThe I-90 Two-Way Transit & HOV Operations project will improve regional mobility by providing safe and reliable two-way transit on I-90 between Bellevue and Seattle. The project will provide full-time HOV lanes for eastbound and westbound traffic on the outer I-90 roadways and will retain the existing reversible lane operations in the center roadway. Due to funding limitations the project will be implemented in stages. Each stage of the project provides viable and independent transit and transportation benefits that can be funded and constructed as financing becomes available. Three stages have been identified for the project. Stage 1, which is funded and approved, provides a new HOV lane in the westbound outer roadway, a new HOV direct access ramp at 80th Avenue SE and includes modifications to the Bellevue Way HOV direct access ramp. Stage 2, will include improvements to eastbound I-90 between 80th Avenue SE in Mercer Island and Bellevue Way. Stage 3 will provide improvements to eastbound and westbound I-90 between Seattle and 80th Avenue SE on Mercer Island. Project Facts (Stage 1)
