Overlake Transit Center/NE 40thDescriptionThe Overlake Transit Facility at Northeast 40th Street, which opened in February 2002, is the result of a partnership between Sound Transit, King County Metro Transit, the City of Redmond, and the Microsoft Corporation. It is a local and regional transit hub, providing a park-and-ride lot with 209 parking spaces, and a convenient transfer site for riders using buses operated by Sound Transit and Metro and for private shuttle services operated by employers in the Overlake area. It will be a major transit access point in the Overlake/Redmond community. Public art has been integrated into the project and is functional as well as artistic. The main element is a circular compass design that serves as an east-west orientation line for pedestrians The Microsoft Shuttle Operations Building was completed in July 2002. The Rider Services Building housing customer information, a bike station, the Greater Redmond Transportation Management Association, a Redmond police outpost, a concessionaire and driver restrooms were completed April 2003. The buildings have monitors that display real-time bus arrival information. Rider information for this facility>>>
