Lynnwood Transit Center - Public Art

Shift - Claudia Fitch, 2004

Two 30-foot markers, inspired by the contours of a domestic newel post, serve as beacons to identify a somewhat hidden transit center.  The artist used an elegant black and white patterning at the base of the markers to communicate warning and contribute to pedestrian safety.  This pattern is repeated in the crosswalk that marks an important spot for motorists and pedestrians to stop, shift gears and pay attention.
