Saturday Lane Closure: Northbound lane on Montlake Blvd NE between NE Pacific Street and Place

Publish Date
Body

Sound Transit’s contractors will repave the northbound lane and install an electrical box for the dewatering wells just north of the University of Washington Station as early as Saturday, February 13. The work on Saturday requires a northbound vehicle lane and the east sidewalk on Montlake Blvd NE between NE Pacific Street and NE Pacific Place to be closed. This is being done to prepare for the future retrieval of the tunnel boring machines (TBM) building the extension to the U District, Roosevelt and Northgate neighborhoods.

What to expect:

  • Work Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 13, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Traffic Impacts: One northbound lane on Montlake Blvd NE will be closed between NE Pacific Street and Place. Sidewalk access on the east side of Montlake Blvd NE will be closed near the work area. Two way traffic will remain on Montlake Blvd. Expect traffic delays during this work.
  • Construction Activities: Drilling into the concrete, removing steel plates to repair the road. Drilling will sound similar to a truck running with occasional hammering sounds. The dewatering installations are estimated to remain in the area north of the University of Washington Station until early summer. Stay tuned for future alerts for work on Montlake Blvd NE.
  • Equipment: Drill rig, trucks, traffic signage, cones, generators and vacuum trucks.
