Stay Alert & Be Smart

Small electronic devices are a favorite of thieves targeting riders. Transit police, security guards and fare enforcement officers regularly patrol the trains and platforms, but please stay alert when using cell phones or other small electronics on Link and buses.

Good advice for riders: watch a PSA by the New York Police Department >>

2012 Service Implementation Plan

Each year, a draft Service Implementation Plan (SIP) is prepared by Sound Transit's Service Planning Department to guide the delivery of ST Express bus, Sounder commuter rail and Link light rail services. The Draft SIP describes service and revisions proposed for the upcoming budget year, together with preliminary proposals and financial estimates for the subsequent five-year period.

Now we're asking for public comments. Join us at an upcomping public meeting, or read the plan and provide feedback online. Complete details on our Service planning page >

510 takes Nutcracker from student to stage

A bus can take you nearly anywhere.  For Andrew Bartee, who dances as The Nutcracker in the Pacific Northwest Ballet's beloved production, ST Express route 510 is the vehicle that helped him on the road to career success.

Andrew joined the Route 510 bus brigade at age 14, when his class schedule at PNB's ballet school in downtown Seattle became more intense. When the school day ended at North Middle School, he boarded the bus at Everett Station, just under a mile away.

"I encourage people to ride the bus all the time," he said. "It's a lot easier than you think."

Commute time on the bus was dedicated to homework so that once he arrived at ballet class, all his focus could be on dance. As a regular 510 rider, he also made a few commuter friends along the way.

Andrew joined the professional ballet company in 2008. In this year's production of the Stowell/Sendak Nutcracker, he dances the physically demanding scene where The Nutcracker duels the King of Mice.

Pacific Northwest Ballet's Stowell/Sendak Nutcracker runs through Dec. 27 in Seattle. Find tickets at www.pnb.org and your best transit match to get there at www.soundtransit.org.
