If you love movies – especially with freshly popped popcorn filling the air – you are in luck!

The 50th Seattle International Film Festival runs May 9-19, hosting the best in independent films from around the globe (tickets are on sale now).

You can laugh, cry, get scared, or all the above while getting the chance to hear from actors, directors, and/or screenplay writers in person at many of the showings.

The best part of movie watching is sharing the experience with other people. Grab a friend or just join your neighbors – you are bound to find something you like with over 260 feature and short films to choose from.

Three theaters showing festival movies are within a mile of Sound Transit’s 1 Line stations. Here’s the list:

  • AMC Pacific Place – 0.2 miles/4 min. walk from Westlake Station
  • SIFF Cinema Downtown (formerly Cinerama) - 0.3 miles/8 min. walk from Westlake Station
  • SIFF Cinema Egyptian - 0.3 miles/8 min. walk from Capitol Hill Station

The annual festival is always fun to check out; but you can also catch movies year-around at all SIFF theaters.
