WHEREAS, Helen Knoll has had an exemplary public service career, including service at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll has been the Regional Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration Region 10 office since 1996; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll is of the highest caliber federal official, and her personal commitment to high standards of performance have strengthened the federal partnership in transportation that benefit the citizenry of the Central Puget Sound region; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll has actively encouraged public discourse and accountability for transportation issues and projects; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll has been a mentor and inspiration for many individuals in the Puget Sound region to become involved in the field of public transportation; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll is held in very high regard by the public transportation community around the Puget Sound and will be sorely missed when she retires; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll has been a champion for public transportation during her service at the Federal Transit Administration and has promoted improved public transportation around the Central Puget Sound; and

WHEREAS, Helen Knoll is retiring from public service.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority to recognize and commend Ms. Helen M. Knoll for her outstanding leadership and public service as the Regional Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration.

ADOPTED by the Board of the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority at a regular meeting thereof held on the 28^th day of March 2002.
