Sounder Train Alert

Sounder Lakewood-Seattle - Single-tracking - Platform closure at Auburn Station and Delays Jan 3 - Jan 27

Update 1/6/17: Sound Transit will not send out daily rider alerts for specific impacted trains if the delays are under 20 minutes due to the Auburn construction project. Sound Transit will post an update each Friday during the project. At this time the project is on schedule to complete Friday, January 27.

The west platform at Auburn Station will be closed due to BNSF construction of a third track. Riders should continue to expect delays during the construction period as all trains will be using one mainline track. In Auburn, passengers will use the east platform for both northbound and southbound trips. Riders who park in the west lot will need to use the overhead walkway to cross the tracks as the Main Street pedestrian crossing will continue to remain closed.

During this work many Sounder trips will experience delays. The below trains are particularly subject to potential delays of up to 20 minutes to gain access to the single track:

  • 1501 (6:15 AM Seattle departure)
  • 1503 (6:50 AM Seattle departure)
  • 1506 (6:06 AM Lakewood departure)
  • 1510 (6:46 AM Lakewood departure)
  • 1515 (4:32 PM Seattle departure)

This final phase of the project started on Tuesday, January 3, lasting until Friday, January 27. This project will reduce future passenger delays by creating more capacity for the freight and passenger trains that use the corridor, improving on-time performance.

Thank you for your patience.
