Link Light Rail Projects

Construction is nearly complete and testing is underway on a new Link light rail line that is a critical to this region's transportation future. The light rail line is opening in 2009 in two stages: the 13.9-mile segment from Westlake Station to Tukwila International Boulevard Station in summer 2009 and a 1.7-mile extension to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport by the end of that year.

To support the rail line, Sound Transit retrofitted the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel and its existing stations for joint use by both light rail trains and buses. The tunnel reopened for buses in September 2007.

This fall, voters in Central Puget Sound will have a chance to expand mass transit in the region, including adding 36 miles of light rail. Learn more about potential Link expansion here>>>
