Q: When train service goes down, why aren’t back-up buses available immediately?

Publish Date
Body

If Link or Sounder service gets disrupted, we send buses to pick up passengers and drop them off at stations. However, buses aren’t always immediately available because they are in use during busy commute times when the trains operate. We rely on what’s available at the bus base and buses and drivers coming out of service that can be routed back into service. When available, we’ll re-route buses already in service to assist when it has a minimal impact on bus service. For cost-saving measures, we do not have a reserve fleet of buses and drivers waiting for backup needs. Our goal is to get buses to the passengers within an hour.
