Tukwila

When light rail starts running in 2009, you will board an electric light rail train in Tukwila for a fast, frequent, reliable and congestion-free trip to Downtown Seattle.

Sound Transit and the City of Tukwila have agreed on improvements to Southcenter Boulevard between International Boulevard and 52nd Avenue South.

These improvements include bike lanes and sidewalks that will greatly improve access to the station as well as a landscaped median.

The agreement also includes an expanded second park-and-ride lot at the station on the north side of Southcenter Boulevard. Combined with the lot on the station site, a total of 600 stalls will be available for transit riders. The site for this second parking lot is currently the Public Storage company site.

Archaeological Site Data Recovery Effort
Archaeologists from BOAS, Inc. completed excavation of an archaeological site in Tukwila along the Duwamish River where artifacts were discovered during pre-construction archaeological surveys in Fall 2004. The archaeologists are conducting analysis and testing of the artifacts and will complete a report on their findings in late 2007.
