High Road - Stuart Keeler and Michael Machnic
Artists Stuart Keeler and Michael Machnic researched the history of stilt walking and how it has been used as a means not only of entertainment, but also its use in transportation and ritual in different cultures. They combined this with the image of an egg, which historically has been viewed as the epitome of mathematical perfection, a symbol for new beginnings, an icon of life itself, and echoes Bellevue's agricultural past. The combination of these concepts results in three stilt walking egg forms that glide across the landscape.

Artists' Quote
"The tradition of stilt walking is found throughout the world's cultures.
It is an act of festival, of dance, and of daily life. Eggs, archetypal representations of life, are found throughout culture and time. The range of meaning heaped upon their 'perfect' form is endless, crossing through folklore, religion, science and art."
