Special weekend Sounder services expanded for 2010

Sounder trains serving weekend day Mariners and Sounders FC games

Seattle Mariners and Sounders FC soccer fans can forget about traffic and take Sound Transit's popular Sounder commuter rail trains to weekend day games this season. The special Sounder service is in addition to regular Link light rail service to and from the stadiums.

Sound Transit will run special Sounder trains to 16 Mariners games and four Sounders FC soccer matches. Sounder serves Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila, Everett, Mukilteo and Edmonds, arriving and departing a short walk from Safeco Field at King Street Station.

Link light rail serves 13 stations in downtown Seattle, SODO, Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Tukwila and SeaTac. Link's Stadium Station is a half block from Safeco Field and Qwest Field.

For FC Sounders matches starting at noon and 12:30 p.m., inbound trains from the south will depart Tacoma at 10 a.m. and arrive at King Street Station at 11 a.m. Inbound trains from Snohomish County will depart Everett at 10:15 a.m. and arrive at King Street Station at 11:15 a.m. Return trains will depart King Street Station 35 minutes after the match ends.

Trains will depart an hour later for FC Sounders matches starting at 1 p.m.

Regular fares will apply for all Sound Transit services. Orca and all standing transit passes will be accepted.
