Tukwila International Blvd. Station and Light Rail Guideway

Sound Transit’s contractor, PCL Construction Services, is rapidly finishing civil construction work on the Tukwila segment of the Link light rail line. The Tukwila International Blvd Station at International and Southcenter boulevards (S. 154th Street) will be finished in early February, 2008. Contractors are busy installing the communications and signal equipment and the electric system to power the trains. Temporary construction easements are being restored, and the use of these properties is returning to the owners.

Southcenter Blvd/S 154th Street Road Improvements

Note: Please expect intermittent traffic delays along Southcenter Blvd/S. 154th St of 5 to 15 minutes from May 2008 through November 2008.

Starting in February 2008, Sound Transit’s Southcenter Blvd Station contractor began road modifications and improvements along Southcenter Boulevard in the City of Tukwila, and along South 154th Street in the City of SeaTac.

Construction work will occur on:

Southcenter Boulevard from International Boulevard to 53rd Avenue South in the City of Tukwila
South 154th Street from 32nd Avenue South to International Boulevard in the City of SeaTac
International Boulevard between the SR 518 overcrossing and South 152nd Street in the City of SeaTac

Construction work also includes:

The Tukwila International Blvd Station north surface Park-and-Ride lot
Special urban design features at the entrance plazas to the Tukwila International Blvd Station Park-and-Ride lot
Upgraded drainage infrastructure with storm water regional detention facilities
Pavement widening and resurfacing and sidewalks
Relocation of existing overhead utilities underground
Landscaping and streetlights

Normal work hours within the Cities of Tukwila and SeaTac are:*

Weekdays between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Weekends and holidays at Tukwila between 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. and SeaTac between 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.

*Work hours may change based on the permits issued by the city.

Station Highlights

Elevated station with side platforms located at the intersection of International and Southcenter boulevards/South 154th Street
A park-and-ride lot with 600 spaces
Until the light rail connection to the airport opens at the end of 2009, every train will be met by a free shuttle to the airport (similar to the park-and-fly shuttles)

Anticipated Travel Times

To Westlake Station - 31 minutes
To Columbia City Station - 16 minutes
To Sea-Tac International Airport by shuttle - Seven minutes

Projected Ridership

The station is scheduled to open in 2009 with 2,600 daily boardings projected by 2020 (assuming the system runs from Northgate to South 200th Street)
