Tickets
On ST Express Bus
Sound Transit does not have a bus ticket program. Instead, bus tickets issued by Community Transit, King County Metro Tranist (Metro) and Pierce Transit are valid only on the ST Express routes each agency operates. Bus tickets are not valid on Sounder commuter rail. Where to buy bus tickets>>
- Community Transit (and Everett Transit) tickets are only valid on ST Express routes operated by Community Transit (510, 511, 513, 532, 535).
- Metro tickets are only valid on ST Express routes operated by Metro (522, 540, 545, 550, 554, 555, 556, 557, 560, 564, 565).
- Pierce Transit Seattle Express and local tickets are only valid on ST Express routes operated by Pierce Transit (574, 582, 586, 590, 591, 592, 594, 595). PT local ride tickets are valid for one-zone fare.
On Sounder Commuter Rail
Only tickets issued by the ticket vending machine (TVM) are valid on Sounder. A single trip ticket or Day Pass (roundtrip) is valid only on the date printed on the pass. Single trip tickets are not available in advance. A Day Pass may be purchased up to 14 days in advance. A monthly pass purchased from the TVM is valid for the calendar month. An advance ticket is valid only for the date selected. If you have a valid pass or valid transfer that does not cover the full Sounder fare, purchase a pass upgrade ticket or a transfer upgrade ticket from the TVM immediately prior to boarding. Bus tickets are not valid on Sounder.
Ticket Vending Machines
Tickets, passes and fare upgrades are available at the ticket vending machine (TVM) located on the Sounder station platforms or in the station at Tacoma and Everett. The TVM accepts cash, debit card, MasterCard or VISA. Please allow extra time to purchase your fare before the train departs.
