Sounder Commuter Rail Accessibility

Sounder strives to make accessibility easy for our riders with special needs, including those traveling in wheelchairs, scooters or with young children in strollers.

Passengers requiring boarding assistance should wait at the top of the access ramp located on each platform. The train conductor will deploy a boarding ramp to help riders get on the train safely from the "mini-high" platform. Please do not try to board the train in a wheelchair or scooter until the ramp is in place.

Each passenger car is equipped with a fully accessible bathroom.

Regional Reduced Fare Permit

People with disabilities ride Sounder at a reduced rate with a Regional Reduced Fare Permit. One personal care attendant may ride for free, but must board and leave with the reduced-fare passenger.

Priority seating

Designated seating is available on Sounder for senior citizens or riders with disabilities. If other passengers are using these seats, the conductor or security officer will politely ask them to move.

Service animals

Service animals helping persons with disabilities are permitted at all times.
