Transit Facility Profiles

The Transit Facility Profiles were completed in 2004 as a work program item approved by the Sound Transit Board to assist interested parties in understanding existing conditions at station areas. The profiles are a resource for understanding the importance of connecting land use and transit in the ¼ mile radius around major transit stops, generally considered the area that is most influenced by transit and is within comfortable walking distance. The TOD Program intends that citizens, developers, neighborhoods associations, planners and others will find these maps and overlays useful. Each station area profile contains six essential pieces of information.

  • Fact Sheet - describes the transit facility, location, transit connections and general conditions.
  • Aerial Map - shows location and context to surrounding area within ¼ mile
  • Land Use Overlay - shows existing land use patterns in the area around the transit facility
  • Zoning Map - shows current zoning in the station area within ¼ mile
  • Land Value Overlay - shows real property value at the time the maps were created, with  the intent to track land values in station areas over time.
  • Ownership Overlay - shows ownership of real property in the station area at the time the maps were created.

Due to schedule and budget, not all station areas were profiled and may be completed at a later date. Please let us know of your suggestions for improving or expanding the Profiles.
