Link Light Rail (Central Link) Fares

On July 20, 2009, Sound Transit’s Link light rail trains began paid passenger service between downtown Seattle and Tukwila.

Beginning December 19th, 2009, at 10 am, light rail service will extend to SeaTac Airport. Note that the fare to the airport is the same as the fare to Tukwila.

Link fares are distance-based. The cost of a ride depends on the distance traveled and the type of fare (Adult, Youth or Senior/Disabled). You may pay your Link fare using an ORCA card, or a pass such as PugetPass or FlexPass, or you may buy a ticket at the Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) on the train platform. Read more here >>

You must pay your fare before boarding Link. On board, fares are inspected at random. Be prepared to show your valid ORCA card, pass, ticket and/or transfer to the fare inspector upon request.

How to pay your fare

ORCA card: The ORCA card is available at light rail station ticket vending machines, online at www.orcacard.com, and through other retail outlets. Before boarding Link, riders must tap their card on the ORCA card reader at the station; and should then "tap off" at the destination station or stop. The card will do the math, calculating transfer value or reduced fares.

Ticket Vending Machines: Riders can use cash or credit/debit cards to buy single-ride tickets, roundtrip day passes, or to add value to the ORCA smart card. Machines are located on or near Link train platforms. Learn more >>>

PugetPass, FlexPass, U-Pass: all valid on Link. Learn more >>>

Transfers: Until January 1, 2010, use your bus transfer on Link. Learn more >>>
