Lakewood Station grand opening community celebrationSeptember 20 , 20089:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Keeping Lakewood moving!Join us for a community celebration as we open Lakewood Station. This new transit hub opens Sept. 21 for local and regional bus service, as well as the new Sounder-Connector service, Route 599. With the 2012 completion of the rail connector project in Tacoma, Sounder commuter trains will serve the station directly.
More about Lakewood Station Like the SR 512 Park-and-Ride lot, Lakewood Station will be served by Sound Transit, Pierce Transit and Intercity Transit. The Lakewood Station includes bus bay shelters, landscaping, bicycle storage and ticket vending machines to purchase tickets for the Sounder Connector Route 599. The new 600-stall parking garage will make it easier for Lakewood commuters to leave their cars behind. The station design also includes an art piece by Mark Calderon, whose campfire-like sculpture serves as a symbol of the city’s energy and growth.
