Lakewood Station grand opening community celebration

September 20 , 2008
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Keeping Lakewood moving!

Join us for a community celebration as we open Lakewood Station. This new transit hub opens Sept. 21 for local and regional bus service, as well as the new Sounder-Connector service, Route 599. With the 2012 completion of the rail connector project in Tacoma, Sounder commuter trains will serve the station directly.

We invite you to enjoy refreshments, prizes, entertainment and activities for the whole family. Meet Zap Gridlock, Sound Transit's congestion fighting super hero, and enjoy music by the Bruce Robertson Band. Talk with city officials and learn about transit options and other programs going on in your community.

better together

Riding the Sounder Connector Route 599
To kick off the opening of the new Lakewood Station, Sound Transit is starting direct weekday bus service to Sounder trains at Tacoma Dome Station starting Monday, September 22. ST Express Route 599 will be timed to match Lakewood riders up with Sounder trains to Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila and Seattle.

More about Lakewood Station

Like the SR 512 Park-and-Ride lot, Lakewood Station will be served by Sound Transit, Pierce Transit and Intercity Transit. The Lakewood Station includes bus bay shelters, landscaping, bicycle storage and ticket vending machines to purchase tickets for the Sounder Connector Route 599. The new 600-stall parking garage will make it easier for Lakewood commuters to leave their cars behind. The station design also includes an art piece by Mark Calderon, whose campfire-like sculpture serves as a symbol of the city’s energy and growth. Project details for Lakewood Station >>
