Bel-Red open house highlights completed design for East Link’s 130th Street station

Public invited to check out plans as the Bel-Red segment design reaches completion

As design of the East Link light rail extension's Bel-Red segment reaches completion, community members are invited to see the final design that the community helped shape for the 130th Street station, one of ten East Link stations that are part of the 14-mile project.

Community involvement, including the work of Bellevue's Light Rail Citizen Advisory Committee, was key to shaping the station's design. The open house will include a presentation by station artist Patrick Marold with drawings of his planned work in the platform railing.

The event will also include an initial look at plans for upcoming construction. In 2015 and 2016, early construction work on this segment will focus primarily on relocating utilities to make way for East Link.

By 2030 East Link is projected to carry about 50,000 riders each weekday. As the region's population continues growing East Link will provide expanded transportation capacity to the I-90 corridor. Increases in the length and frequency of trains over time offer the capacity to carry from 8,000 to 12,000 people per hour in each direction, more than doubling the person-carrying capacity of I-90.
