The Sound Transit Board unanimously supported the appointment of Edmonds community leader Ramon Gould to the Sound Transit Citizen Oversight Panel. Comprised of citizens throughout Sound Transit's three-county district, the panel serves as an independent body responsible for reviewing the performance of Sound Transit.

Gould's active community leadership includes seven years on the Snohomish County Planning Commission, eight years on the Edmonds City Council and he's served on numerous boards and committees including 1000 Friends of Washington, Puget Sound Waterways, The Luther Child Center and The Stevens Foundation. A retired facilities manager for Scott Paper Company, Gould was also former director of facilities, planning and operations for Shoreline Community College and holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering.

Gould fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Bruce Agnew, a former Snohomish County resident. Sound Transit's policies require that the membership of the Citizen Oversight Panel equitably represent each geographic area of the three-county Sound Transit district, and vacancies should be replaced by a person from the same area as the former member.

The Citizen Oversight Panel currently has two open Pierce County positions, and interested applicants who reside or work in Pierce County are welcome to contact Sound Transit Board Administration, Sound Transit, 401 S. Jackson St., Seattle, WA 98014, (206) 398-5000 or 1-800-201-4900. For TTY/TDD users please call 1-888-713-6030.

Sound Transit is on track to implement a three-county regional transit system plan known as Sound Move which includes Sounder commuter rail, an 82-mile system using existing rail lines between Everett and Lakewood; Link light rail, a 21-mile system connecting the cities of Seattle, Tukwila and SeaTac and a 1.6-mile system in Tacoma; and Regional Express featuring 18 new limited-stop regional ST Express bus routes and 48 capital projects including transit centers, park-and-ride lots and direct access to HOV lanes.
