More than eighty Federal Way residents, elected officials, businesses and property owners will help Sound Transit design the new $37 million Regional Express Transit Center and park-and-ride lot at a workshop on Wednesday, May 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Way, Federal Way. The proposed 1,200 parking stall project is located at the southwest corner of S. 316th St, and 23rd Ave. S. on the sites of the former Silo Electronics store and current Cucina Cucina restaurant.

The design workshop is one of many community involvement meetings and events to ensure Sound Transit projects meet and reflect the needs of local communities.

The Federal Way Transit Center and park-and ride lot is just one of numerous improvements Sound Transit's Regional Express department is bringing to transit centers, park-and-ride lots and high-occupancy vehicle lanes throughout the region. Regional Express is also responsible for the ST Express bus system, a strategic web of 17 routes providing two-way all-day bus service connecting the major urban centers of Bellevue, Everett, Tacoma and Seattle with numerous cities and communities in Central Puget Sound. Two bus routes between Bellevue and Seattle and Tacoma and Seattle are already in service partially funded by Sound Transit and these two routes plus seven others will begin ST Express service in September.

Along with ST Express, Sound Transit is building Sounder commuter rail running 82 miles between Everett and Tacoma/Lakewood and Link light rail, a 21-mile system connecting the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Seattle and a 1.6-mile system in Tacoma.
