Groundbreaking on Ash Way and Lynnwood direct access projects

On Monday morning, Sound Transit will break ground on two I-5 direct access ramp projects that together will shave 10 to 20 minutes off bus trips during rush hours between Snohomish and King counties, easing trip times for thousands of commuters.

The projects, located at the Ash Way and Lynnwood park and ride facilities, will provide buses with direct access to and from I-5's HOV lanes. The Lynnwood direct access ramps will be open to carpools and vanpools as well as buses.

The groundbreakings are major 2003 milestones for Sound Transit in fulfilling its mission to build a regional transportation system of express bus service, light rail, commuter rail and transportation infrastructure projects.
