Special service will help game goers avoid Seafair and other event traffic

Seattle Mariners fans can skirt heavy event traffic this Sunday by taking Sound Transit's special Sounder train to Safeco Field for the 1:10 p.m. game with the Kansas City Royals.

Traffic will be especially heavy on Sunday as thousands will take to Seattle roads and highways to enjoy the Seafair hydroplane races, the afternoon Mariners game, and a Sounders FC match at 8:00 p.m.

Mariners fans heading to the Safeco Field can take the Sounder train at 11:00 a.m. from Tacoma, arriving in Puyallup at 11:12 a.m., Sumner at 11:17 a.m., Auburn at 11:25 a.m., Kent at 11:32 a.m., and Tukwila at 11:39 a.m. before reaching Seattle at noon.

Fans from the north end can take the train from Everett at 11:15 a.m., with stops at 11:26 a.m. in Mukilteo and 11:41 a.m. in Edmonds before arriving at King Street Station at 12:14 p.m.

Return service for Tacoma and Everett will depart King Street Station 35 minutes after the final out.

In addition to its special Sounder train, Sound Transit's Link light rail offers fast, convenient service to and from the stadium. Link light rail serves 13 stations in downtown Seattle, SODO, Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Tukwila and SeaTac, and its Stadium Station is only a half-block walk to Safeco Field.

Regular fares apply for all Sound Transit services. ORCA and all valid transit passes will be accepted.
