Three open houses scheduled for Northgate to Lynnwood segment

As part of the Sound Transit 2 plan approved by voters in 2008, Sound Transit is starting the formal planning process for mass transit between Northgate and Lynnwood. Your input will help the agency identify the best way to serve this corridor.

Sound Transit invites the public to attend a hands-on planning session to learn and comment about:

• Project purpose and schedule
• Areas that may be served by future stations
• Criteria for reviewing alternatives

The Sound Transit 2 Plan approved by voters in 2008 assumed a fully elevated light rail line from Northgate Station to the Lynnwood Transit Center, with four new stations north of Northgate. Sound Transit is now beginning the process of working with the public to define which transit alternatives are examined, part of a process that will enable the region to compete for the federal funds that are key to the affordability of transit in the corridor. Initial steps include defining which transit mode and alignment alternatives to examine. Federal funding is especially key as Sound Transit responds to impacts of the national recession, which has reduced projected revenues by about 25 percent and created schedule risks for the envisioned extension of service to Northgate and Lynnwood.
