Improved access to I-405 for transit and carpools, a new transit center and expansion of park-and-ride facilities are all on the drawing boards for Kirkland as part of the implementation of Sound Move, the 10-year regional transit system approved by voters in 1996. Sound Transit, the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority, invites Kirkland residents and interested Eastsiders to attend an open house to learn more about these projects and share their views on how they should be implemented.    Tuesday, October 20 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.   Kirkland Senior Center 352 Kirkland Ave.

In addition to learning about the alternative approaches being considered for implementing these transportation improvements in Kirkland, those attending will have the opportunity to learn more and ask questions about efforts underway to improve regional and local transportation. Representatives of the City of Kirkland, King County Metro and the state Department of Transportation will join Sound Transit staff to discuss how they are working together to bring about needed transportation improvements.

The Kirkland Senior Center is handicap accessible, and is located adjacent to the Kirkland Performance Center, and is served by Metro bus routes 230, 251, 254 and 255. For more information about the Kirkland projects or to be added to the project mailing list, please call the Kirkland project hotline at 425-519-5368.
