PUBLIC INVITED TO INFORMAL ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING MEETINGS ON SOUNDER COMMUTER RAIL IN FEBRUARY
Sound Transit - the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority ( invites citizens from south Snohomish County, Everett, Mukilteo, Edmonds, north King County, north and downtown Seattle, Ballard and Shoreline to help determine what environmental issues should be looked at concerning the north line of Sounder Commuter Rail, the proposed 35-mile Everett-to-Seattle transit system using existing railroad lines. During the first two weeks of February, Sound Transit will be hosting five open house meetings where people will be able to chat one-on-one with experts from Sound Transit and learn more about the system that could have up to eight stations to serve Seattle, Shoreline, Edmonds, Mukilteo, Everett and surrounding areas.
The informal meetings will run from 5-8 p.m. and will be held at the following locations:

Comments and information gathered at these open houses will help form the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which is being prepared under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Sound Transit is the lead agency for the SEPA and the Federal Transit Administration is the lead agency for the NEPA. Both agencies welcome all public review and comment. Written comments will be accepted until February 20, 1998 and they may be given at these open houses or in writing via mail or fax to Perry Weinberg, SEPA responsible official, Sound Transit, 1100 Second Ave., Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98101-3423, fax: (206) 689-3763.
