People who live and travel in South Lake Washington communities have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of helping plan for projects to provide faster, more reliable transit service in the Renton area. Sound Transit, in partnership with the City of Renton, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), and King County Metro, are hosting the first community open house to view and discuss more than 20 initial concepts and tradeoffs for accomplishing this goal.

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

McKnight Middle School

1200 Edmonds Ave. N.E., Renton

Sound Move, the regional transit plan approved by voters in 1996 included funding to construct new ramps and related capital improvements allowing buses, carpools and vanpools direct access to freeway high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes along I-405. Removing them from the general purpose traffic lanes and incorporating improvements on Renton streets will improve transit access at the Renton Transit Center as well as the speed and reliability of bus service.

Those attending will not only be able to get answers to their questions about the concepts, but can provide their comments and opinions as well. Written comments are also welcome.

The Renton HOV Access Projects are part of Sound Transit's Regional Express program that includes 18 new limited-stop regional ST Express bus routes and numerous transit improvement projects such as transit centers, park-and-ride lots and improved HOV access.
