Public open house meetings to discuss new transit improvements in Mercer Island and Bellevue

Improving access to interstate freeways, developing new transit centers and creating additional park-and-ride spaces are all being evaluated for Mercer Island and Bellevue as part of the implementation of Sound Move, the 10-year regional transit system plan approved by voters in 1996. 

Sound Transit - the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority - invites residents from Mercer Island and the Bellevue area to attend a public meeting in their community to discuss different project proposals and help identify any environmental concerns that should be studied during the formal environmental review that begins in April.

The Mercer Island and Bellevue projects are among approximately 100 transit improvement projects being implemented by Sound Transit to improve access to local and regional transit services. Sound Transit will inaugurate service in September on the first nine of 17 regional express bus routes and will begin Sounder commuter rail service between Tacoma and Seattle by the end of the year. The agency is also developing the Link light rail system to connect the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Seattle.
