Sound Transit opens new S. Sammamish Park-and-Ride

Sound Transit and its partners - the City of Sammamish and King County Metro Transit - today officially opened the new Sammamish Park-and-Ride lot at 228^th Avenue SE and the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.  (Visit project page for more information>>)

"This new park-and-ride lot adds 265 new parking stalls to a fast-growing area of our transit district," said Sound Transit Boardmember and King County Executive Ron Sims - who hosted the event. "Everyone knows about the traffic access problems suffered by commuters who live on the Sammamish Plateau. This facility increases options to make access easier and give those who drive another choice."

"Not only will this new park-and-ride lot encourage transit ridership to help relieve congestion throughout the region," said Sammamish Mayor Michele Petitti, "it also includes a unique storm water treatment system that will help protect nearby Pine Lake."

The $7.7 million project will also include bus loading areas and layover space, bicycle storage facilities and amenities, customer amenities, information kiosks, public art, and the unique storm water treatment system.

The park-and-ride lot will have service from King County Metro Routes 216 (commuter service to Seattle), 269 (serving Issaquah, Sammamish, Overlake and Redmond) and 927 (local service between Issaquah, Klahanie and Sammamish).
