Sounder commuter trains to leave on schedule despite earlier freight derailment

Sound Transit's Sounder commuter rail trains are scheduled to depart on time from Seattle this afternoon following an earlier derailment of a freight train in Renton.

Sounder trains, which were not involved in the derailment, will use a separate adjacent track to bypass repairs that are underway. Reduced travel speeds in the area are anticipated to delay tonight's arrival times by 10 to 15 minutes.

Delays are not expected next week since track repairs are scheduled to be completed over the weekend.

Sounder trains leave Seattle's King Street Station at 4:55 p.m., 5:10 p.m., and 5:35 p.m. on weeknights.
