In response to heavy snow forecasted for this evening's commute, Sound Transit will operate two extra Sounder trains for southbound riders who want to head home early.

In addition to its regular commuter rail service, Sound Transit will run an early southbound train from King Street Station at 2:30 p.m. This train will depart Tukwila at 2:42 p.m., Kent at 2:49 p.m., Auburn at 2:56 p.m., Sumner at 3:05 p.m., and Puyallup at 3:09 p.m. before arriving in Tacoma at 3:30 p.m.

A reverse commute train to Seattle will depart Tacoma Dome Station at 3:50 p.m., Puyallup at 4:02 p.m., Sumner at 4:07 p.m., Auburn at 4:15 p.m., Kent at 4:22 p.m., and Tukwila at 4:29 p.m. before reaching Seattle at 4:48 p.m.

Sounder service to Everett will operate on regular schedule, with the first northbound train leaving Seattle at 4:05 p.m. Link light rail and Tacoma Link will also operate on normal schedule.

Northline riders wishing to leave earlier in the afternoon can use existing bus service. Buses depart downtown Seattle from Fourth Avenue South and South Jackson Street for north King and Snohomish County areas as follows:

  • To Edmonds: Community Transit Route 416
  • To Mukilteo: Community Transit Route 417
  • To Everett: ST Express Route 510

Riders can find detailed schedule information for all Sound Transit services at Riding-Sound-Transit/Schedules-and-Facilities.xml.

Riders are encouraged to stay informed of weather-related service changes by signing up for rider alerts under the Rider Alert section on the agency's website. Riders without internet access can call 1.888.889.6368. Sound Transit has extended its call center hours to 6:00 p.m.

Transit users should dress warmly during snowy conditions, wear sturdy boots or shoes, and be prepared for longer waits due to weather-related traffic delays. Allow plenty of time to get to bus stops, stations and transit centers, and use caution when walking in wet or icy areas.
