Ride Sounder to every Seahawks home game this season!

Seahawks fans can avoid battling traffic this season by riding special Sounder train service to all eight of this year’s regular season Seahawks games. Special event trains will serve Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila, Everett, Mukilteo and Edmonds, arriving and departing right next door to Qwest Field at King Street Station.

This year’s Sounder line-up is even bigger than last year?, with nearly every game served by three trains between Tacoma and Seattle, and two trains between Everett and Seattle, all ready to handle the big crowds that are expected for a great football season. Regularly scheduled ST Express bus routes can also connect football fans around the region with Qwest Field.

Sounder commuter rail offers a great way to avoid traffic jams and parking hassles, whether for special events like Seahawks games at Qwest Field or for your daily commute. Sound Transit currently offers six round-trip commuter rail trains each weekday between Seattle and Tacoma with stops in Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila and Seattle. Three more round-trip trains travel between Everett, Mukilteo, Edmonds and Seattle.

Three more round-trip trains will be added in late September, for a total of eight weekday round-trip trains in the south corridor and four in the north corridor. The final funded addition to the Sounder schedule is a ninth round-trip train in the south end coming next year.

Further Sounder expansions are part of Sound Transit’s Mass Transit Expansion proposal going before voters this November. The proposal calls for increasing Sounder service between Lakewood, Tacoma and Seattle by 65 percent with longer trains and four new round trips. Also included in the proposal are 36 miles of new light rail to Lynnwood, Redmond and the Redondo/Star Lake area of Federal Way. A 17-percent expansion of ST Express regional bus service in 2009 and improved access to transit facilities around the region also is included.
