Popular event service will operate for game-goers

Sound Transit will operate special game day Sounder train service this Saturday for the 5:15 p.m. post-season game between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions.

Special Sounder service is in addition to Link light rail, ST Express and King County Metro service to and from CenturyLink Field. Light rail and bus service will operate on regular Saturday schedules.

Inbound Sounder trains from the south depart Lakewood at 1:50 and 2:30 p.m., and from Sumner at 2:37 p.m. The first train leaving Lakewood is an express service that stops in Lakewood, South Tacoma, Tacoma and Puyallup before continuing directly to Seattle, where it arrives at King Street Station at 2:57 p.m. The second train departs Sumner at 2:37 p.m. with stops in Auburn, Kent and Tukwila before reaching Seattle at 3:19 p.m. A third train leaves Lakewood at 2:30 p.m. and stops at all south line Sounder stations before arriving at King Street Station at 3:43 p.m.

Returns trains for the south line depart King Street Station 10, 20 and 45 minutes after the end of the game.

Inbound trains from Snohomish County will depart Everett at 2:15 and 2:30 p.m. with stops in Mukilteo and Edmonds, arriving at King Street Station at 3:14 and 3:29 p.m.

Return trains to Everett will leave Seattle 15 and 35 minutes after the game.

Due to possible service impacts as a result of inclement weather conditions, riders are encouraged to check for alerts prior to traveling. Riders can sign up for service alerts at soundtransit.org.

An online schedule of Sounder trains serving the Seahawks game is available at soundtransit.org/seahawks

Special Sounder service is in addition to Link light rail service to and from CenturyLink Field. Link runs three-car trains every 10 minutes on weekends and serves 16 stations including Angle Lake, the University of Washington, Capitol Hill, downtown Seattle, SODO, Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Tukwila and SeaTac. Link’s Stadium and International District stations are a short walk from the stadium.

South Sound game-day riders can park in the new 1,050-stall Angle Lake garage. An additional 70 parking spaces are available under the south end of the station’s elevated guideway.

Many ST Express and King County Metro buses drop off passengers near the stadium. Link and ST Express buses will be operating on Saturday schedules, which are available at soundtransit.org/schedule. King County Metro bus schedules are available at kingcounty.gov/metro/schedules.

In addition to its regular Saturday bus service, Metro Transit will operate special Seahawks game day shuttles from three park-and-ride lots. Game-day shuttles will serve the Eastgate Park-and-Ride, Northgate Transit Center, and South Kirkland Park-and-Ride and travel nonstop to CenturyLink Field. Shuttles leave designated parking areas two hours prior to kick-off time, with the last bus leaving about 30 minutes before kickoff. More information on Metro’s game-day shuttle service is available at metro.kingcounty.gov/up/spclevent/seahawks.

Regular fares apply for all Sound Transit and Metro Transit services. Getting an ORCA card or buying a day pass is a great way to skip lines at ticket vending machines. Cards only cost $5 for adults, plus whatever amount a rider chooses to load in the card’s E-purse, or the cost of a pass that is good for unlimited transit trips. ORCA works on trains, buses and ferries throughout the region. More information is available at orcacard.com.

Link light rail and Sounder riders who don’t have an ORCA card can avoid lines by purchasing transit tickets through King County Metro Transit’s mobile ticket app Transit GO Ticket. More information can be found at transitGOticket.com.
