How to pay

Paying for your ride on Sound Transit buses and trains is easy. You can use cash or your ORCA card.

ORCA cards are accepted on all Sound Transit services and on Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro Transit, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, Seattle Streetcar and Washington State Ferries.

Looking for an easy way to pay? Get an ORCA card and add value to it, then just tap your card on the yellow card reader at the station before you get on and again when you’ve reached your destination. And, ORCA makes it easy to transfer between buses and trains. You can also pay by downloading the Transit GO Ticket app on your phone or use one of the ticket machines located at all stations to buy a ticket.

Paying with an ORCA card is the easy way to pay. Just tap your card on the yellow card reader at the station before you get on and again when you’ve reached your destination. And, ORCA makes it easy to transfer between buses and trains.  You can also pay by downloading the Transit GO Ticket app on your phone or use one of the ticket machines located at all Sounder stations to buy a ticket.

ST Express buses

Take the guesswork out of paying your fare with an ORCA card. Just tap your card on the reader when you get on your bus. It’s as simple as that. And, ORCA makes it easy to transfer between buses and trains. ST Express buses also accept cash (no change provided).

Bus tickets

Sound Transit does not have a regional bus ticket program. Retail bus tickets sold by Community Transit are valid only on the ST Express routes operated by Community Transit (510, 511, 512, 513, 532, 535). Likewise King County Metro Bus (KCM) tickets are valid only on ST Express Routes operated by KCM.  (522, 540, 542, 545, 550, 554, 555, 556).  Neither are valid on Sounder trains or Link light rail.
