Summary of Changes

  • Route 255 would be shifted to connect to the University of Washington Station and University District throughout the day.
  • Route 255 would run every six minutes in both directions during rush hours.
  • Route 255 would run more often in the evening and on weekends.
  • Route 255 north of Totem Lake Transit Center would be replaced by Route 235 to improve reliability
  • Routes 255 and 540 would provide better connections to the University District, allowing Route 277 to be eliminated due to low ridership.
  • Route 540 would be extended to Seattle Children's Hospital
  • Route 540 would run every 20 minutes in both directions during rush hours.
  • Route 542 would provide a new, direct connection within the Eastside between South Kirkland Park-and-Ride, Overlake, and downtown Redmond

Results

  • There would be significantly improved connections between Kirkland and the University District at all times
  • Wait times would decrease since buses would be running more often during rush hours, evenings and weekends.
  • Service would become more reliable since buses would be avoiding downtown Seattle and I-5 congestion. A transfer would be required at the University of Washington Station for riders going to/from downtown Seattle.
  • A new connection to Seattle Children's Hospital would be added.
  • New connections to Overlake and Redmond would be added.

Summary of Changes

  • Route 255 would be diverted to UW Station and University District during rush hours and middle of the day on weekdays.
  • Route 255 would run every six minutes in both directions during rush hours.
  • Route 256 would be added, replacing Route 255 during evenings and on weekends, with continued service to downtown Seattle.
  • To improve reliability, Route 255 north of Totem Lake Transit Center would be replaced by Route 235.
  • Route 258 would be added, providing rush hour service between Houghton P&R, South Kirkland P&R, South Lake Union and Denny Triangle.
  • Route 540 would be extended to Seattle Children's Hospital.
  • Route 540 would run every 20 minutes in both directions during rush hours.
  • Route 541 would provide a new, direct connection within the Eastside between South Kirkland Park-and-Ride and Overlake

Results

  • There would be significantly improved daytime connections between Kirkland and the University District on weekdays
  • A transfer would be required at the University of Washington Station for riders going to/from downtown Seattle
  • Direct service to downtown Seattle would be maintained during the evening and on weekends.
  • Buses would run less often nights and weekends, leading to long wait times in downtown Seattle.
  • Riders would need to wait on surface streets in downtown Seattle to catch buses.
  • There would be improved connections to South Lake Union during rush hours.
  • There would be new rush-hour service to Houghton P&R.
  • There would be new connections to Seattle Children's Hospital.
  • There would be new connections to Overlake.
