Long-term daytime closure of Island Crest Way Eastbound HOV off-ramp

Beginning as early as Monday, Oct.23, the Island Crest Way Eastbound HOV off-ramp will close during daytime, off-peak hours. Closures are planned to occur daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for approximately seven weeks. Crews will use this time to form and pour concrete sound walls for the Mercer Island station prior to constructing the station platform and head houses.

To safely complete this work and to minimize impacts to I-90 traffic, crews will need to access the station area from the Island Crest Way Eastbound HOV off-ramp. This work is only permitted to occur during daytime work hours. See below for more information:

  • Island Crest Way Eastbound HOV off-ramp is planned to be daily during off-peak hours beginning as early as Oct. 23 until Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Drivers will be able to use the West Mercer Way and 77th Avenue eastbound off-ramps.
  • Crews will form and pour the station’s sound walls to prepare for the station platform and head house construction.
  • Crews will need to access the site from the Island Crest Way Eastbound HOV off-ramp to safely pour concrete and reduce impacts to I-90 vehicular traffic.
  • Crews will work in the existing right of way with traffic control in place. Please follow signed detours and flaggers to safely access your destination.

Off-peak daily Westbound Island Crest Way HOV on-ramp closures continue into early next week

The Westbound Island Crest Way HOV on-ramp will be close Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Crews working for Sound Transit are finishing demolition work and will use this closure to complete the work.
