Construction starts later this year on Sumner garage

It’s been about two months since the Sound Transit Board of Directors selected Harbor Pacific Contractors for final design and construction of the Sumner Station garage. The HPC team has been busy over the past weeks, with early site exploration and structure design.

Stay tuned for more information later this spring about building designs and what to expect during construction.

Puyallup Station garage opened March 27

Are you worried about finding a parking space at Sumner Station? Consider trying out the new Puyallup Station garage and surface parking, located just three miles away at 505 2nd Avenue NW, Puyallup. The facility, with over 680 new stalls, opened to the public on March 27. Make sure to use the third-floor pedestrian walkway, or the new crosswalk at 2nd Ave., to cross 5th Street, then make your way to the platform from the garage.

Sounder special event trains this spring

Sounder runs special service on select weekends for sporting events, conventions and celebrations. Upcoming game trains include:

  • April 2: Mariners vs. Cleveland Guardians.
  • April 8: Sounders FC vs. St. Louis City SC.
  • April 16: Mariners vs. Colorado Rockies.
  • April 23: Mariners vs. St. Louis Cardinals.

Sumner’s new shuttle, the Commuter Connector.

Reminder: Commuter Connector shuttle launched

Do you work in Sumner’s industrial area? A new shuttle service may be for you! The City of Sumner launched the Commuter Connector earlier this month, to give workers a direct connection from Sumner Station.

The Connector meets Sounder trains and runs every 20 minutes, when Sounder is running. It then drops employees off at their worksite and brings them back to the station again when it is time to return home.

Mid-morning train adjustment

As of March 20, the S Line mid-morning train now leaves Sumner Station at 10:43 a.m. Whether you are traveling for work, appointments or fun, Sounder provides a great alternative to sitting in traffic!

Concerned about finding a parking space at Sumner Station? Consider parking at the new Puyallup Station parking garage, at 505 2nd Ave NW, Puyallup, WA 98371.
