Long-term closure of southbound 23rd Avenue South

In preparation for upcoming Link light rail service at the Federal Way Transit Center, Sound Transit crews will be closing southbound 23rd Avenue South for extensive utility work and concrete paving. For approximately 8-10 months, 23rd Ave. S. will be one-direction, northbound only between South 320th Street and South 317th Street. Please follow the marked detour routes around southbound 23rd Ave. S.

When

  • Starting as early as Saturday, March 4 for approximately 8-10 months.
  • Closure will be in place 24/7.

Where

23rd Avenue South, between South 320th Street and South 317th Street (see map).

More

  • Southbound 23rd Ave. S. will always be closed, during the closure period.
  • Northbound 23rd Ave. S. will remain open, unless otherwise marked.
  • Crews will work to maintain a safe and secure work site.
  • Cranes, trucks, and other heavy equipment may be used, so crews will try to reduce noise when possible.
