East Link light rail vehicle testing

More light rail vehicle testing rolling out in Downtown Bellevue

Sound Transit continues to power progress! Starting Thursday, August 4th, Hi-Rail vehicles will be pulling a single light rail vehicle at walking speeds on the track between the Operations & Maintenance Facility East (OMFE) and East Main station. Crews will be carrying out this work during the daytime hours starting Thursday, August 4th – Friday, August 5th, 7:30 A.M. - 3 P.M.

With these activities moving us toward the opening of the 2 Line, Sound Transit reminds you to pay attention to safety. The trains will be moving fast and can appear quickly. It is important to stay off the tracks at all times and only cross at designated crossings.

What

Light Rail Vehicle clearance testing

When

During the daytime hours beginning Thursday, August 4th – Friday, August 5th; 7:30 A.M. - 3 P.M.

Where

Along the tracks - Operations & Maintenance Facility East (OMFE), Wilburton station, Bellevue Downtown station, and East Main station

Safety Reminders

Only cross at designated crosswalks and signalized intersections. Obey all traffic signs and signals. Link trains are electric and very quiet. Whenever you are around trains or tracks, remember to watch for trains.

Always look both ways before crossing the tracks. Trains can travel in any direction, or any track, at any time. After a train passes, another train may be coming from the opposite direction.

Do not walk, stand, or park a vehicle on the tracks. Trains can arrive at any time.
Stay away from the track switches that are used to change train directions. These switches are very powerful and can move at any time without warning.

When crossing the tracks on a bicycle, always cross the tracks at a 90-degree angle to prevent your bicycle tires from getting stuck in the tracks.
