Good news for people with low incomes: If you ride Sounder trains and ST Express buses, you’ll have a new reduced fare option starting March 1.

Low-income adults who qualify (generally, people whose annual household income is at or below 200% of the poverty level) can apply for an ORCA LIFT card that allows them to pay the new reduced fares. You must use ORCA LIFT to pay the reduced fare.

New low-income adult fares starting March 1:

ST Express: $1.50 for travel within one county, $2.75 for travel that crosses a county line
Sounder: $2.50-4.25 depending on distance traveled.

Sound Transit introduced low-income adult fares on Link in 2015.
