Environmental Evaluation Reports

Sound Transit and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), in coordination with the City of Tacoma, have completed environmental review for the Tacoma Link Expansion project. The environmental analysis examined how the project could potentially affect the community and environment, and identifies proposed mitigation to address and reduce potential impacts, as needed. The environmental review indicates that no significant impacts are anticipated. With the analysis complete, it is now available for review by the public, agencies, and others.

On June 25, 2015 Sound Transit is making available on its website the Environmental Evaluation document. The document has been approved by FTA as the NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) federal lead agency for this project:

A Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under SEPA (State Environmental Policy Act) is expected to be issued by Sound Transit on July 13, 2015. Public and agency comments on the DNS and environmental documentation will be accepted July 13-27, 2015 and should be submitted to tacomalinkexpansion@soundtransit.org. Written comments can also be mailed to Allison Gregg, Sound Transit, 401 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104. In July, the environmental documents will be available on CDs at no charge or $10 for each hard-copy document by contacting Elma Borbe, Environmental Planner, at elma.borbe@soundtransit.org

Comments received during the July comment period will be summarized and provided to the Tacoma City Council and the Sound Transit Board of Directors prior to actions on the project by the City and Sound Transit which are expected in late summer or early Fall.

An Open House on the Tacoma Link Expansion project is planned for July 15 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Evergreen State College-Tacoma Campus (1210 6th Avenue in Tacoma).
