A look back at West Seattle Link’s 2023
We want to thank everyone who engaged with us in 2023. The West Seattle Link Extension (WSLE) project took important steps forward because of your participation. Following the Sound Transit Board’s identification of the preferred alternative for the WSLE in 2022, we continued the environmental review process and the design of the preferred alternative. During 2023, we met with community groups, property owners, and businesses to share project timeline updates and answer questions. We also asked for your feedback and comments on the station design.
Here’s a summary of our engagement activities by the numbers:
-
We facilitated nearly 100 meetings (in-person and virtually) with property owners and community organizations.
-
We staffed a table at 11 community events to share project information and answer questions.
- To gather feedback about station planning and potential station access and features, we hosted four events and reached out directly to the community. This included: a large fall forum in West Seattle, a SODO drop-in session, two in-language focus groups, one online survey, meetings and door-to-door flyering.
-
We proactively communicated information to neighbors and businesses about fieldwork activities via door-to-door flyering, emails, and phone calls.
-
We sent 16 email updates to listserv subscribers.
-
We shared project information with businesses near the future SODO and West Seattle stations.
-
We continued to work with seven Community Liaisons, in partnership with the City of Seattle, who support open houses, in-language focus groups, festival tabling, and flyering in Delridge, High Point, and White Center.
Your feedback has helped us take meaningful steps toward building a successful project. We greatly appreciate the time you’ve spent engaging with us. In 2024, we will provide an update on station design and anticipate releasing the Final Environmental Impact Statement in mid-2024.

Thank you to all who shared feedback on WSLE station design!
We closed 2023 by hosting outreach events and conducting a survey to gather your input on the West Seattle Link Extension station design. If you attended our in-person engagement opportunities or completed the survey, thank you! Your feedback on how Sound Transit, the City of Seattle, and other agencies can make trips to and from stations easier and safer is valuable and greatly appreciated.
Stay tuned for a summary of feedback collected from in-person and online engagement! More chances to participate in the station planning process will be available in early 2024.
