As early as Monday, Aug. 28, Sound Transit will be closing 8th Ave NE, both north and south of NE 185th Street, as part of the new NE 185th Street road alignment. The work includes an updated roadway, curbs, and a roundabout, with reopening anticipated for Oct. 20. Eastbound and westbound access will be maintained on NE 185th St. as a single lane with a temporary signal alternating traffic.
What to know:
- Full 24-hour closure of 8th Ave NE, both north and south of NE 185th St., ending at the nearest driveways.
- Vehicle, pedestrian, and bike access coming to and from 8th Ave NE and NE 185th Street will be closed. Local access to residences on 8th Ave NE will be possible from NE 180th St. to the south and NE 188th St. to the north.
- East and westbound vehicle, pedestrian, and bike access will be maintained on NE 185th St. via a single lane with a temporary signal alternating traffic.
- Periodic night and weekend work with a full closure of east/west traffic on NE 185th St. from 8th Ave NE to 5th Ave NE may be required as part of the work. Notices will be provided prior to the full closure.
- Commuters should expect delays. Please plan accordingly for travel.
- Please follow the directions of signals, signage, and flaggers for safe travel.
When:
- Monday, Aug. 28 through Friday, Oct. 20.
- 8th Ave NE will be closed for approximately 8 weeks.
Where:
- 8th Ave NE is closed north and south of NE 185th Street for approximately 90 feet to the nearest driveways.
