Sound Transit selects Absher Construction to build Kent garage
On Oct. 26, the Sound Transit Board awarded the new Kent parking garage design-build contract to Absher Construction of Puyallup. The garage, found at East James Street and Railroad Avenue North, is expected to open in 2027. The project will also include a new bus layover space for King County Metro and improvements for walking and bus transit in the area.
Closer to the start of construction, we will hold a public open house to share final design updates with the community and preview construction, expected to begin next year.
